Facebook Lead Ads vs Landing Pages: Which Gets Better Leads?

· 2 min read

If your goal is to collect enquiries, you have two main options on Meta: an instant form inside Facebook, or a landing page on your own website. Each has strengths.

Instant forms (lead ads)

People tap your ad and a form opens inside the app, often pre-filled with their name, email and phone number.

Advantages

  • Very low friction, so more people complete it.
  • No website needed.
  • Fast to set up.

Drawbacks

  • Leads can be lower quality, because it takes almost no effort to submit.
  • Less room to explain your offer.
  • Some people enter wrong details or forget they filled the form.

Landing pages

People click and visit a page you control, where you explain the offer and ask them to act.

Advantages

  • You can answer questions, show proof and filter out the unsuitable.
  • Better tracking and testing options.
  • You own the experience and the data.

Drawbacks

  • More effort to build, and it must load fast on mobile.
  • Fewer people complete it, though the ones who do often care more.

How to choose

  • High-volume, low-value or simple offers: instant forms can work, such as giveaways or event registrations.
  • High-value services or considered purchases: a landing page, often with a booking calendar, usually gives better quality.
  • Not sure: test both with the same budget and compare cost per qualified lead, not just cost per lead.

Improve lead quality in instant forms

  1. Use the higher-intent form type that adds a review step.
  2. Add a custom question that filters, such as budget or timeframe.
  3. Be honest in the ad about price and what happens next.

Speed of follow-up decides a lot

Contact new leads quickly. Many leads are lost not because the ad was bad but because nobody replied for two days. Automate a first reply by email or WhatsApp and have a person follow up.

Measure the real result

Track what happens after the lead arrives: how many answered, how many booked, how many bought. A lead that costs more but closes more often is the cheaper customer.

Summary

Instant forms win on volume and ease; landing pages usually win on quality. Test, then decide with your sales numbers.
